
Liberty Secures 2-0 Weekend Besting George Washington, Navy

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty women's tennis (5-1) showcased its strength in back-to-back matches, first defeating George Washington (2-1) 7-0 on Friday, followed by a 5-2 victory against Navy (4-3) on Saturday. The Lady Flames now own a four-match winning streak following the weekend's results.
In Friday's match against George Washington, Liberty dominated by sweeping all three doubles matches and all six singles matches. The Flames quickly secured the doubles point with decisive victories. Yoanna Radulova and Maria Turchetto opened with a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles against Madison Lee and Karen Verduzco. On court two, Daniella O'Neill and Milana Tsulygina defeated Solange Skeene and Victoria Sasinka, 6-2. Anika Lemus and Celina Joseph completed the sweep with a 7-6 (3) victory at No. 3 doubles over Alexandra Lindqvist and Devika Manu.
In singles, Liberty continued its dominance. O'Neill claimed a straight-set victory at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-3, over Skeene. Radulova followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles against Sasinka. Tsulygina added another point for the Flames at No. 3 singles, winning 6-2, 6-3 over Lee.
Joseph clinched the match-winning fourth point in a three-set battle in the No. 4 singles match, but emerged victorious with a 6-1, 0-6, 6-4 win over Verduzco. Lemus also went the distance at No. 5 singles, securing a 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 win against Lindqvist.
Freshman Aranai Martinez wrapped up the sweep for Liberty with a 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (8) triumph at No. 6 singles against Manu. The win was the first career appearance and triumph for the freshman.
Against Navy on Saturday, Liberty again secured the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. Radulova and Turchetto clinched a 6-3 win over Olivia Fermo and Nicole Fu at No. 1 doubles, while Joseph and Lemus triumphed in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (5), against Mackenzie Lee and Grace Li at No. 3 doubles. Navy claimed a win at No. 2 doubles, where Anna Jordan and Peyton A Philemon defeated O'Neill and Tsulygina, 6-2.
Liberty extended its lead in singles with Joseph's straight-set victory, 6-2, 6-3, over Anna Wiskowski on court five. Tsulygina added another point for Liberty with a 6-1, 6-2 win against Grace Li at No. 4 singles. O'Neill secured the match for Liberty by defeating Fermo 6-1, 7-5 in the No. 1 singles match. Navy responded with a win at No. 3 singles, where Fu overcame Turchetto in a three-set battle, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8). Radulova countered for Liberty, defeating Emma Gu 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
