
Jessee Named CUSA Player of the Week

LYNCHBURG, Va. -Â Liberty redshirt junior catcher Savannah Jessee has been named Conference USA Softball Player of the Week, announced Monday.
A native of Jonesborough, Tenn., Jessee earns her first career CUSA Player of the Week honor. She is the first Liberty catcher since Caroline Hudson (ASUN) on March 6, 2023 to be named conference player of the week.
Jessee had a standout weekend at the Liberty Softball Classic, helping the Lady Flames go 3-1 including a pair of Power Four victories. In four games, she batted .600 (9-for-15) with three doubles, one homer, seven RBI and three runs scored.
She opened the weekend by batting 2-for-4 with two RBI in a 7-2 win over Toledo. Jessee then recorded her first career four-hit game, batting 4-for-4 with two doubles, one RBI and one run scored against Syracuse.
On Saturday, she went 1-for-4 with a double, one RBI and one run scored in a 3-2 win over Maryland. She got Liberty on the board with an RBI double in the top of the first inning. Saturday evening, she batted 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run scored as Liberty shut out Syracuse 7-0. Her first homer of the season, a three-run blast, put Liberty up 3-0 in the second inning.Â
For the season, Jessee leads the team with a .372 batting average and is tied for the team lead with 10 RBI.
The Lady Flames (5-9) continue their 12-game homestand this week, hosting the Liberty Softball Invitational. Liberty will face Radford in a doubleheader on Friday at 3 p.m. before taking on Marshall (10:30 a.m.) and UConn (3 p.m.) on Saturday.
