LYNCHBURG, Va. – Following a Zone-qualifying performance at Liberty's home-opening meet, Liberty freshman Elizabeth Ann Hobby has been named American Conference Freshman Diving Athlete of the Week.
Hobby, a native of Moultrie, Ga., is the second Lady Flame in program history to be named American Conference Freshman Diving Athlete of the Week, joining Mercy Goodnight (Nov. 25, 2025).
She helped the Lady Flames defeat James Madison in a tri meet which also featured Rutgers.
On Saturday, Hobby finished fifth on one-meter springboard while qualifying for the 2027 NCAA Division I Zone A Diving Championships with a score of 268.90 points. That score was good for eighth on Liberty's all-time top 10 performers list on one-meter.
Earlier in the meet, she placed eighth on three-meter with a score of 232.25.
The Lady Flames will head to Miami next weekend for the Dual-A-Pool-Ooza. Liberty will compete against Miami (Fla.) on Friday at noon in Coral Gables, Fla., before facing Vanderbilt (10 a.m.) and host FIU (3 p.m.) in separate dual meets on Saturday in Doral, Fla.
