Liberty to Host USI to Begin OVC Play

LYNCHBURG, VA. – The Liberty Flames men's soccer team will open Ohio Valley Conference play this weekend, when it welcomes the Southern Indiana Eagles to Osborne Stadium on Saturday. Match time is scheduled for Noon.

Liberty will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak after falling to nationally-ranked UNCG at home last Friday and then No. 1-ranked Wake Forest on Monday. The Flames' contest at Wake Forest completed their 2025 non-conference schedule, as eight-year coach Kelly Findley's team enters the weekend with a 4-2-2 record.

Liberty and Southern Indiana (1-6-0) have met twice all-time, both in OVC action the past two years. The Flames hold a 1-0-1 advantage in the overall series. Liberty won last year's meeting between the squads 5-0 at Osborne Stadium on Oct. 20, 2024.

The two teams will meet twice this season in conference play. Liberty will visit USI on Oct. 9.

After starting the season 4-0-2, Liberty has dropped its last two matches to enter the weekend with a 4-2-2 record.
The 2025 season will be Liberty's final season in the OVC. Next year, the Flames will move to the Southern Conference. Liberty has posted a 9-7-4 record in its first two seasons in the OVC.
Liberty enters Saturday's match with a 3-1-1 record at Osborne Stadium. The Flames have outscored their opponents, 15-5, at home this season.
The Flames enter the weekend having outscored their opponents, 19-13, on the year. Liberty ranks 16^th nationally in scoring offense, averaging 2.38 goals per game, and is second in the OVC in goals behind Lindenwood, which has scored 23 goals.
Defender Lucas Kelly leads Liberty in scoring with nine points and goals with four. He is third in the OVC in goals and fifth in points.
Forwards Sam Farner and Leo Conneh are second on the Flames with three goals and eight points each. The two are tied for fifth in goals and seventh in points in the conference.
Freshman forward Jayden Ramos and defender Perry Blay enter the weekend tied for the team lead and fourth in the OVC with three assists. Blay's three assists are a career-high for the senior.
Tyler Beck has played every minute in goal this season for the Flames. The sophomore has posted a 1.62 goals-against average and a .658 save percentage. He has three shutouts.
