Fenimore Named to Rimington Trophy Watch List

After stepping into the starting role at center just before the start of the 2024 season, Liberty's Aaron Fenimore has been named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List.
    Â
The Rimington Trophy is presented to the nation's premier center by the Boomer Esiason Foundation.
    Â
Fenimore was one of 40 players named to the list and was the only player from Conference USA to make this preseason watch list.
    Â
This year, the Rimington Trophy committee worked with Pro Football Focus (PFF.com) to narrow down its list to the top 40 centers. PFF.com grades every player on every play of every game on how well they execute their given assignment. That play-by-play grading allowed the Trophy committee to create a watchlist based both on nominations from the schools and data provided by PFF.com.
    Â
Fenimore had a breakout season in 2024 after moving into the starting center role the week prior to the start of the regular season due to an injury on the offensive line.
    Â
The native of Senoia, Ga., was named to The Athletic Freshman All-America team, VaSID All-State Offensive Rookie of the Year, VaSID All-State second team and Conference USA All-Conference first team.
    Â
Fenimore started all 12 games at center and led the offensive line in total snap count (825). He saw playing time in a team-high 96.0 percent of Liberty's total offensive plays (825-of-859).
    Â
He finished the year with a 73.7 percent PFF.com offensive grade. The rating ranked second best among starting centers in Conference USA in 2024.
    Â
Fenimore helped the Flames finish the 2024 season ranked No. 4 in the country in rushing offense (250.7 yards per game) and No. 20 in fewest interceptions allowed (7).
    Â
The recipient of the 2025 Rimington Trophy will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards, live on ESPN on Friday, December 12.
    Â
The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the most outstanding center in NCAA Division I College Football. Since its inception, the award has raised over $5 million for the Boomer Esiason Foundation.
    Â
Dave Rimington, the award's namesake, was a consensus first-team All-America center at Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which time he became the John Outland Trophy's only two-time winner as the nation's finest college interior lineman.
