LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty announced a familiar-looking 2025 cross country schedule today, featuring the same four regular-season competitions as the Flames took part in a year ago.
Aug. 29 – Liberty Challenge (Lynchburg, Va.)
The Flames will open the season in Lynchburg for the second year in a row, racing a low-key meet on their home course adjacent to the Liberty Indoor Track Complex. Aug. 29 will mark Liberty's earliest beginning to a season since 2014.
Sept. 19 – Adidas XC Challenge (Cary, N.C.)
For the second consecutive season, Liberty's lone September competition will be the adidas XC Challenge at the WakeMed Soccer Park Cross Country Course in Cary, N.C. The men's squad will attempt to defend its team title from 2024, while the Lady Flames take on national power NC State on its home course.
Oct. 3 – Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational (South Bend, Ind.)
For the third time in four years, Liberty will head to the Burke Golf Course for the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational. This high-level event typically produces fast times, with five Flames clocking sub-24:00 8Ks a year ago.
Oct. 18 – Pre-National Invitational (Columbia, Mo.)
The Flames and Lady Flames will make their annual trek to the Pre-Nationals event, previewing the site of the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships. This year's event will take place at Missouri's Gans Creek Cross Country Course for the first time.
Nov. 1 – Conference USA Cross Country Championships (Huntsville, Ala.)
The Flames and Lady Flames will attempt to defend their CUSA team titles from 2024. A number of the team's veteran members will be familiar with the course at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Ala., which played host to Liberty's final ASUN Cross Country Championships appearance in 2022.
Nov. 14 – NCAA Division I Southeast Regional Championships (Earlysville, Va.)
Liberty will stay close to home for the NCAA Division I Southeast Regional Championships, with the event being held at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va., for the first time since 2019.
Nov. 22 – NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships (Columbia, Mo.)
The NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships will be run in Missouri for the first time. Opened in 2019, the Gans Creek Cross Country Course has previously hosted the 2021 SEC Championships and the 2022 NCAA Division I Midwest Regional Championships.
