Alexander Takes 7th at Roanoke XC Invitational

SALEM, Va. – Freshman Eden Alexander led the way for Liberty at Saturday's Roanoke XC Invitational, placing an impressive seventh in the women's 6K at Green Hill Park.
Competing at the 6K distance for the first time, Alexander steadily worked her way up through the field, going from 26th place at the 1K split to seventh of 200 finishers. She accomplished that by keeping an even pace of 11:09.1 for the first 3K loop and 11:07.9 for the second, equaling a final clocking of 22:17.0.
Alexander was joined in the women's race by classmate Gracelyn Laudermilch, who came in 48th at 24:22.2.
Competing unattached, Liberty alum Adelyn Fairley took home the women's individual title in 21:02.2
In the men's 8K, freshman Caden Ellis crossed the line 32nd of 239 runners with a time of 26:08.1 that lowered his personal best by more than 30 seconds.
Jack Cottrell was the men's runner-up in 24:08.2 while racing unattached. He has exhausted his cross country eligibility but will compete for the Flames on the track this year.

The Liberty men's and women's squads will attempt to defend their team titles at the CUSA Cross Country Championships on Nov. 1. The meet will take place at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Ala., with the women's 6K slated for 10 a.m. Eastern and the men's 8K to follow at 11 a.m. Eastern.
