Auguste Named to 2025 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List

Honoring his work on the field and in the community, Liberty's Elijah Auguste has been named to the 2025 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List.

Auguste was one of a record-setting 116 nominees for the community service honor. The list recognizes college football players from across the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) who exemplify community service, academic excellence and athletic achievement.

This is the second community service award watch list Auguste has been named to this year. He was also named to the 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® watch list.

Auguste has been an active member in the greater Lynchburg community throughout his three-year career with the Flames. He was named the winner of the Conference USA Spirit of Service Award during the Fall 2024 semester.

The native of Everett, Mass., is in his third year as the football program's representative on Liberty's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). He completed his undergraduate degree in health care management in December 2024 and is pursuing his master's degree in health care administration.

Auguste holds a 3.22 GPA as a graduate student and has twice been named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.

On the field in 2024, Auguste recorded 12 tackles, including nine solo stops. He was a mainstay on Liberty's special teams units, ranking second on the team in special team snap count (210 snaps).

"Eli is the definition of what it means to be a servant leader," said Lauren Amy, Liberty's Director of Engagement and Development for Student-Athletes. "He goes above and beyond to serve the local Lynchburg, Virginia community, regardless of if it is during the football season or the off season.

"He is dedicated to ensuring that children from all walks of life have access to education through our Learn Like Liberty program, food from our Trick or Treat so Others Can Eat initiative, new school supplies from Dollar Makes a Difference, or entertainment from Bingo with the Flames. His spirit is infectious, and his energy is always contagious."

Widely regarded as college football's premier award for community service, the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy celebrates student-athletes who use their platforms to serve others and create positive change.

Named after 1996 Heisman Trophy winner and University of Florida quarterback Danny Wuerffel, who turned his football success into a lifelong mission of service, the award reflects his legacy of leadership and humanitarianism. This year marks the 21^st anniversary of the trophy's founding.

"Every year, I'm deeply moved by these student-athletes," said Danny Wuerffel. "They lead with their heart. Each of our nominees is making a real difference in the lives of others, and their stories remind us what true greatness looks like."

For the second consecutive year, the Wuerffel Foundation is partnering with Allstate to unite college football's top community service honors through the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®. Eleven student-athletes from the Watch List will be named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® and serve as semifinalists for the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy.

The 2025 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy finalists and recipient will be selected by a national voting committee, with input from a fan vote.

The 2025 recipient will also serve as Captain of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team and will be announced live on The Home Depot College Football Awards show on December 12th, airing on ESPN. The Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Presentation Gala will follow on January 31, 2026, at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.
