
Liberty Paces CUSA in Phil Steele Preseason All-Conference Selections

The Flames had a conference-leading 15 players named to the 2025 Phil Steele All-CUSA Preseason All-Conference teams.

Liberty's 15 players resulted in a total of 17 spots on the 2025 Phil Steele All-CUSA Preseason All-Conference teams. Â Safety Brylan Green and running back Julian Gray multiple selections due to their outstanding special teams abilities.

UTEP followed with 12 selections on the preseason list, while New Mexico State and WKU had 11 selections and MTSU players honored.

Liberty also led Conference USA with six first-team honorees, which included offensive linemen Aaron Fenimore and Jack Tucker, defensive end/Joker CJ Bazile, Jr., defensive tackle Bryce Dixon, linebacker Joseph Carter and Green at the safety position.

Phil Steele also predicted the Flames to have a repeat conference finish to their magical run in 2023, as the preseason magazine predicts the Flames to win the 2025 CUSA title. LA Tech ranked second in the preseason listing, followed by WKU in third and MTSU in fourth.

"The Flames lose a lot on offense but have a potentially dominating defense and should play with a chip on their shoulder," Phil Steele wrote in his preview of Liberty. "They avoid WKU and face the league's best schedule. The Nov. 22 road trip to LA Tech looks like a key game. This year, they look like the best team in CUSA again."
