
Liberty Athletics Achieves School-Record 3.4 Cumulative GPA After 2024-25 School Year

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty Athletics achieved the best cumulative GPA in school history following the 2024-25 academic year with a 3.4 cumulative GPA. This is both the highest year-end mark and highest overall cumulative GPA in athletics department history.
All 20 of Liberty's teams earned a 3.0 or higher GPA for both the fall and spring semesters as well as for the 2024-25 academic year and cumulatively. This is the second straight year all 20 teams had a 3.0 or higher GPA for a school year after the feat had never been achieved prior to last year. This is also the second straight semester that all 20 Liberty Athletics squads have had a cumulative GPA or 3.0 or higher.
Overall, the cumulative GPA for Liberty's 575-plus student-athletes has risen in 15 out of the last 17 semesters. Individually, a total of 125 student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA during the spring 2025 semester, while 55 ended the 2024-25 academic year with an unblemished 4.0 cumulative GPA.
At the conclusion of the spring 2025 semester, 454 student-athletes are maintaining a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA (77 percent).
Working behind the scenes to equip Liberty's student-athletes with all the necessary tools to excel in the classroom is Liberty's Academic Affairs for Athletics staff.
This group of dedicated individuals spends countless hours each week working alongside Liberty's 575-plus student-athletes. Their staff continues to help Liberty student-athletes thrive in their pursuit of academic, athletic, social and spiritual development.
The top team cumulative GPA after the 2024-25 school year belongs to the Liberty swimming & diving program with a 3.72 GPA. The Lady Flames volleyball team is close behind with a 3.68 cumulative GPA. The Liberty swimming & diving squad posted a 3.76 GPA for the 2024-25 academic year, best among all of Liberty's 20 NCAA Division I teams.
Liberty swimming & diving also enjoyed success in the pool, claiming the 2025 Atlantic Sun Women's Swimming & Diving Championship for its seventh straight conference title overall.
The Flames men's tennis program paces all of Liberty's men's athletics teams with a 3.5 cumulative GPA, followed by the men's soccer program (3.39 cumulative GPA).
Liberty Athletics claimed 13 total titles during the 2024-25 school year: seven CUSA Championship crowns, four CUSA regular season titles and two Atlantic Sun Championship titles. The Liberty softball program, which posted a 3.34 GPA during the spring semester, claimed both the CUSA regular season and tournament titles before going on to knock off No. 1 overall national seed Texas A&M in the NCAA College Station Regional to advance to its first Super Regional in school history.
