LYNCHBURG, Va. – Thanks to their dedication to community service, Liberty women's tennis' Daniella O'Neill earned a CUSA Spring Spirit of Service Award while the team was named the ITA Atlantic Region's Community Service Award recipient.
The CUSA Spirit of Service Award honors student-athletes with significant community service endeavors, good academic standing and participation in their sport. The Spirit of Service Award is presented three times throughout the season, with Thursday's honorees representing beach volleyball, outdoor track & field, softball, women's golf and women's tennis. Recipients are nominated by their institutions.
O'Neill has been heavily involved with Liberty Student-Athlete Development and has served as the women's tennis representative on Student-Athlete Advisory Committee from 2023-25.
The Women's Tennis team, led by O'Neill, heavily contributed to multiple service programs, including Dollar Makes a Difference (school supplies collection and fundraiser), Trick or Treat so Others Can Eat (food donation), Hop on Pop (book collection), and the Learn Like Liberty Literacy program.
O'Neill, head coach Dash Connell and the team hosted the ASPIRE Group, a special needs class, including the group as honorary teammates at practices and matches.
