Liberty senior Rachel Roupe was named the top defensive right fielder in NCAA Division I softball, being honored with the 2025 NCAA Division I Rawlings Gold Glove Award®, presented by the NFCA.
The awards were announced at a press conference prior to the start of the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Roupe, a native of Sharpsburg, is the first Liberty player all-time to receive a Rawlings Gold Glove Award.Â
She was one of just nine Gold Glove honorees today and was joined in the outfield by centerfielder Kendra Falby of Florida and rightfielder Elena Heng of Louisiana Tech.Â
Earlier today, she became the first NFCA Division I All-American in program history, being named to the third team. Roupe, Falby and Devin Netz of Arizona are the only three player to be named both NFCA Division I All-Americans and Rawlings Gold Glove winners this season.Â
Previously this month, Roupe was named to the Softball America All-America Second Team and D1Softball All-America Second Team.Â
The postseason honors continue for Roupe, who was named the 2025 CUSA Player of the Year while also appearing on the CUSA All-Conference first team, NFCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region first team and CUSA All-Academic Team.
A four-time all-conference outfielder, 2025 CUSA Player of the Year Rachel Roupe played a phenomenal right field. She recorded 74 putouts, four assists and one error. Roupe led the team with four outfield assists and made several highlight-worthy plays. The senior completed two double plays in the same game, May 18 at Texas A&M, including thrown-out runners at home and first. Roupe also threw out a runner trying to score in the CUSA semifinal against Louisiana Tech.Â
The Lady Flames finished the season with a 50-15 record, setting a new program record for single-season victories. Liberty won both the Conference USA regular-season and tournament titles for the second year in a row. The team made history at the 2025 NCAA Bryan-College Station Regional, winning two out of three games against No. 1 Texas A&M to earn its first-ever Super Regional appearance. The Lady Flames were the first team in the Super Regional era to knock out the No. 1 national seed in the Regional round.
