Liberty Track Sweeps Final Set of CUSA Weekly Awards

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty closed out the outdoor track & field regular season with a bang, sweeping the year's final set of CUSA weekly awards. Kate Goodyear (Track Athlete of the Week), Sofia Mojica (Field Athlete of the Week) and Rachel Hill (Freshman of the Week) claimed the women's awards, while Brendan Pitcher (Track Athlete of the Week), Joshua Smith (Field Athlete of the Week) and Trevor Veenstra (Freshman of the Week) garnered the men's honors.
A redshirt senior from Elizabethtown, Pa., Goodyear clocked a season-best time of 4:19.84 to finish as the Liberty Twilight Qualifier women's 1,500 runner-up. That ranks No. 7 in CUSA this season.
Mojica, a redshirt senior from Queretaro, Mexico, successfully defended her Liberty Twilight Qualifier women's discus title. Mojica's winning throw measured 157-7, landing more than 11 feet beyond her nearest competitor.
Dunnellon, Fla., native Hill punctuated her freshman season with an eighth-place finish in the Liberty Twilight Qualifier women's 1,500. Her time of 4:29.87 slashed five seconds off Hill's previous best and ranks as the third-fastest clocking by a CUSA freshman in 2025.
A redshirt junior from Mason, Ohio, Pitcher finished third in the Liberty Twilight Qualifier men's 800 with a season-best time of 1:48.60. That currently sits No. 3 in CUSA this season.
A junior from South Fulton, Ga., Smith captured the Liberty Twilight Qualifier men's triple jump title with a 49-6.25 leap. He also matched his long jump personal best of 23-2.75 for third place in that event.
Lynnville, Iowa native Veenstra heaved the discus a personal-best 171-6 to place as the Liberty Twilight Qualifier runner-up. He ranks No. 6 on the CUSA performance list, including tops among freshmen.
Liberty will next compete in the CUSA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Friday through Sunday at Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
