LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty's No. 1 doubles pair of Daniella O'Neill and Maria Turchetto were selected as the CUSA Doubles Pair of the Week for the second consecutive week, the conference announced Wednesday.
The duo earned a 2-0 week with victories on the road over No. 46 FIU and bested New Mexico State. The pair improved to 4-0 in CUSA play this spring. The team bested the Panthers' Valery Gynina & Ekaterina Khairutdinova, 7-5, and edged the Aggies' Anna Pinaieva and Nadia Nemeth 6-4
The pair has helped Liberty to a 3-1 CUSA record and win the doubles point in seven of the past nine matches. They lead the Lady Flames with a 9-8 record this spring, all in the No. 1 singles position, and own a 17-13 overall record this year. The two currently own a five-match winning streak.
O'Neil and Turchetto are the third doubles team this season to receive a second CUSA Doubles Team of the Week award. They join FIU's Valery Gynina & Ekaterina Khairutdinova and Louisiana Tech's Zoie Epps and Ana Rodriguez as pairs with multiple awards.
Liberty is set to host another CUSA foe, welcoming Western Kentucky (13-7, 2-1 CUSA) on Saturday at noon. The match from the Liberty Tennis Complex will be streamed live via SwingVision.
