Arraez Awarded CUSA Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty sophomore Rodrigo Santiago Arraez has been named the Conference USA Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday. The honor is Liberty's first of the season.
Arraez enjoyed a 2-0 week in singles with victories in the No. 4 singles position over No. 70 FAU and No. 24 USF. The sophomore breezed past FAU's Jan Kusy 6-1, 6-3, and topped USF's Ettore Danesi in a tight three-set contest, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5.
The honor is the first weekly award of the sophomore's career and the first of any CUSA award for Liberty this spring.
The Toledo, Spain native leads the Flames with a 10-6 record this spring primarily playing in the No. 4 singles position. Arraez owns a 5-4 mark in the No. 4 singles slot and a 4-1 mark at No. 3.
Arraez is currently on a three-match singles winning streak and is 7-3 in his past 10 results.
The Flames (7-11) prepare for their final road trip of the spring season, taking on UNCW on Wednesday at 2 p.m. ET and traveling to Tulane (5-13) for a match on Friday at 2 p.m. ET.
