
Almeida, Auytayakul Tabbed CUSA Doubles Pair of the Week

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty's No. 54 doubles pairing of Joaquim Almeida and Siwanat Auytayakul has been selected as the Conference USA Doubles Pair of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. The duo finished the weekend with a 2-0, leading Liberty to wins over Delaware and VCU.
The honor is Liberty's second Doubles Pair of the Week award and its third CUSA Player of the Week selection. Carl Roothman and Ernst Gouws were recognized on Jan. 29. Rodrigo Santiago Arraez received the CUSA Athlete of the Week recognition on April 2.
The pair secured a 2-0 week with a 6-4 win over Delaware and a 6-2 triumph against VCU. Liberty secured its first-ever victory over VCU in nine meetings, a 7-0 match win, jump-started by the doubles victory.
The Flames duo has excelled throughout the season with a 16-6 record, holding an ITA national ranking as high as No. 23 on Dec. 3. The pair secured the title at the ITA Atlantic Regional with a 5-0 record and became the first Liberty representatives to win a match at the NCAA Individual Championships.
As the No. 1 doubles pair this spring, the pair has collected a 10-4 record this season. The two are currently on a three-match winning streak and are 7-3 in their past 10 results.
Almeida, Auytayakul and No. 2 seed Liberty (10-12) prepares for the 2025 CUSA Men's Tennis Championship, serving as the host site from the Liberty Tennis Complex. The Flames begin action in the semifinal round on Friday at 1 p.m. taking on No. 3 seed Jacksonville State (12-6). All matches at the event will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
