Entering his third season on the Mountain, Liberty Head Football Coach Jamey Chadwell is set to join the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Board of Trustees.
    Â
Chadwell is one of seven new additions to the AFCA Board of Trustees. He is joined as a newcomer on the Board by Jas Bains (Western Colorado), Rhett Lashlee (SMU), Jeff Monken (Army), Kalani Sitake (BYU), Lance Taylor (Western Michigan) and Jerheme Urban (Trinity).
    Â
During his first two seasons at Liberty, Chadwell has guided the Flames to unprecedented success. In 2023, Liberty posted its first-ever undefeated regular season, claimed its first-ever CUSA Championship and made its first-ever New Years Six bowl game appearance where the No. 23 ranked Flames squared off against No. 8 Oregon in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl.
    Â
In 2024, Liberty posted an 8-4 record and continued its run of postseason appearances when they faced Buffalo in the Bahamas Bowl. Liberty has appeared in a bowl game for six-straight years, making a bowl game appearance each year since it became a bowl eligible program in 2019.
    Â
Chadwell will serve as the new representative on the Board for Conference USA. Urban will be a Division III representative, Bains will be a Division II representative, Monken will represent the American Athletic Conference, Taylor will represent the Mid-American Conference, Sitake will be a second Big 12 Conference representative and Lashlee will be a second Atlantic Coast Conference representative.

The seven new coaches will join a group of distinguished head coaches who guide the organization. The Board formulates policy and provides direction for the AFCA, which was founded in 1922 by Amos Alonzo Stagg, John Heisman and others.
    Â
Returning members of the AFCA Board of Trustees include 2025 president Bobby Hauck (Montana), first vice-president Jim Catanzaro (Lake Forest College), second vice-president Steve Ryan (Morningside University) and third vice-president James Franklin (Penn State).
