LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty field hockey sophomore Dara Semmartin has been selected a 2025 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-America second team honoree.
Semmartin earns her first career All-American honor. She is the 17th All-American in the 15-year history of Liberty field hockey, with 15 of those coming in the past nine years. Liberty has featured at least one All-American in each of the last 11 years.
Semmartin is the eighth different player in program history to garner inclusion on the NFHCA All-America second team, joining Reagan Underwood (2024), Azul Iritxity Irigoyen (2022 and 2023), Bethany Dykema (2022 and 2023), Daniella Rhodes (fall 2021), Ashley Dykema (2019), Agueda Moroni (2017) and Serena Barr (2016).
Semmartin, a sophomore defender, was the unanimous 2025 BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year. The second-year player also earned NFHCA All-South Region first team and All-BIG EAST first team accolades. She was also tabbed to the BIG EAST All-Tournament team and earned five BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week awards during the fall 2025 campaign.
In 20 starts, Semmartin recorded six goals (tied for No. 4 on team), 16 assists (No. 1 on team) and 28 points (No. 1 on team). Her 16 assists established a new single-season program record and tied for the seventh most nationally. The defender finished the year ranked No. 1 in the BIG EAST and ninth in the country in assists per game (0.80). Semmartin tallied multiple assists in four games and tied the program single-game record with three assists in a home win over Richmond, Sept. 7. She closed the year strong as well with eight assists over her final seven matches.
In only two seasons at Liberty, the Buenos Aires, Argentina native already ranks No. 9 in program history with 27 career assists after back-to-back double-digit assist seasons (16 in 2025, 11 in 2024).
In addition to her abilities on the offensive end, Semmartin helped the Liberty defense record eight shutouts in 2025, tied for the second most in a year in school history. Semmartin and the Lady Flames ranked seventh in the nation and first in the conference in shutouts per game (0.40). The Lady Flames yielded only two goals in seven BIG EAST regular season contests, recording six shutouts. Semmartin was also tabbed to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll two times during her second season in Lynchburg.
The NFHCA honored 48 Division I student-athletes with first, second or third team All-America recognition.
The NFHCA National Player of the Year award will be announced on Thursday.
