LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty's Tori Griffiths, Dara Semmartin and Julieta Tornati each earned BIG EAST weekly awards for their efforts during the final week of the regular season.
     
Griffiths has been named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career after her first three-goal game. Meanwhile, Dara Semmartin has been tabbed the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for a fifth time this year after a record-breaking performance of her own. Julieta Tornati garnered inclusion the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
     
The trio helped lead No. 7 Liberty to a 5-0 shutout win over Villanova, last Friday in the regular season finale. With the victory, the Lady Flames (15-2) claimed the outright 2025 BIG EAST regular season title, finishing with a perfect 7-0 league mark.
     
Griffiths, a redshirt junior from Clarksboro, N.J., receives her third career weekly recognition. Last year, she was tabbed to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll in back-to-back weeks (Oct. 29, Nov. 4) to end the regular season. Griffiths, a forward, had the best offensive game of her career against the Villanova Wildcats, notching her first career three-goal game.
     
Griffiths' goals were her fourth, fifth and sixth tallies of 2025, and it marked her second career multiple-goal match. Griffiths' six goals this season are a career best in her time at Liberty. She scored both of Liberty's first half goals (ninth and 26th minutes) to give the hosts a 2-0 lead at the break. Both goals came on assists from Avery Pollock, with Griffiths' second goal coming on a reverse from the top of the circle into the right side of the cage at the 25:25 mark.
       
In the second half, Griffiths completed the hat trick midway through the fourth quarter (52:28) on a redirect of a Dara Semmartin ball sent from the right side of the circle. In 17 games this year (two starts), the redshirt junior has six goals, 12 points and a pair of game-winning goals.
     
Semmartin, a sophomore from Buenos Aires, Argentina, notched two assists in the win over the Wildcats. With those pair of assists, she became the program record holder for assists in a season with 15. The previous record was 14 assists, set by Agueda Moroni in 2018. Both of Semmartin's assists came on penalty corners, with Julieta Tornati and Griffiths doing the scoring.
     
Semmartin and the Liberty defense recorded their eighth shutout of 2025, limiting the Wildcats to two total shots (zero on goal). Villanova failed to earn a penalty corner in the match. In 17 games this season (all starts), Semmartin has a team-high 15 assists to go along with six goals (tied for No. 2 on team) and 27 points (No. 1 on team). Semmartin leads the BIG EAST Conference and ranks No. 8 nationally in assists per game (0.88).
     
Tornati wrapped up the regular season in a strong way with a goal in last Friday's triumph versus Villanova. The freshman put the hosts up 3-0 with a 44th minute tally on a penalty corner shot into the right side, assisted by Semmartin. It was Tornati's fifth goal of the season.
     
In 17 games this season, all starts, Tornati has five goals, tied for most among freshman, one assist, 11 points and three game-winning goals.
     
In 10 weeks, the Lady Flames have earned 26 total weekly awards (three national, 23 BIG EAST) – two NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week honorable mention selections, one NFHCA Division I Defensive Player of the Week honorable mention distinction, five defensive player of the week awards, three offensive player of the week honors, four freshman of the week accolades and seven weekly honor roll selections.
