
5 Flames Named to CSC Academic All-District® Team

LYNCHBURG, VA. – Liberty Flames Casey McCarthy, Sam Farner, Spencer Moler, Dylan Swinehart and Kai Tamashiro have earned inclusion on the 2025-2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Men's Soccer Academic All-District® team.
To earn inclusion on the team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically, have competed in 90 percent of his team's games or started 66 percent and have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average as an undergraduate and graduate student.
In his first year at Liberty after transferring from Detroit Mercy, McCarthy was named to the CSC Academic All-District team for the third consecutive year. The senior defender started all 20 games for the Flames, played over 1,781 minutes and served as Liberty's team captain. The lynchpin of the Flames' defense, the center back played the full 90 minutes 18 times and was selected to the Ohio Valley All-Conference second team. The Brighton, Mich., native had three assists during the season and was named to the OVC All-Tournament team as well.
McCarthy is pursuing a bachelor's degree in business administration, achieving a 3.82 cumulative GPA. He was named to the CSC Academic All-District team in 2023 and 2024 while at Detroit Mercy.
Farner played in 18 games with 17 starts in 2025. The senior forward posted career highs with five goals, four assists and 14 points in his final season as a Flame. He tied for ninth in the OVC in assists. Farner scored the game-winning goal in Liberty's 1-0 win over Eastern Illinois in the OVC Quarterfinals on Nov. 9, allowing the Flames to advance to the conference semifinals for the first time.
Farner will graduate from Liberty with a bachelor's degree in business administration. The Pittsburgh, Pa., native has posted a 3.87 GPA during his time at Liberty. The senior was named to the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2023 and 2024.
Moler was one of four Flames to start all 20 games this season. The sophomore midfielder played over 1,740 minutes and played the full 90 minutes 17 times in 2025. The Lake Mary, Fla., native finished the year with a goal and had an assist for three points.
Moler holds a 3.83 GPA and is majoring in business administration. The midfielder was named to the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2024.
Swinehart played in 20 games with two starts this past season. The sophomore forward scored two goals and had one assist for five points.
Swinehart holds a 4.0 GPA in interdisciplinary studies. The sophomore received the OVC Academic Medal of Honor for holding the highest GPA among conference players in their sport and was named to the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2024.

Tamashiro holds a cumulative 3.90 GPA in sport management. The Honolulu, Hawaii, native was a two-time ACC Academic Honor Roll member.
