ST. CHARLES, MO. – Liberty Flames defender Casey McCarthy and forward Leo Conneh were named the 2025 Ohio Valley All-Tournament team, the conference announced at the conclusion of the 2025 OVC Men's Championship tonight.
McCarthy and Conneh each played all 180 minutes of Liberty's two OVC tournament games this past week. The two played key roles in the Flames' 1-0 victory over Eastern Illinois in the OVC Quarterfinals last Sunday and in their 1-0 loss to Houston Christian in their OVC Semifinal game on Wednesday.
McCarthy, a senior, served as the linchpin of the Flames' defensive unit throughout the OVC Tournament and the 2025 season. The defender and team captain played the full match in both games, finishing the year playing the full 90 minutes 14 times. The OVC All-Conference second team member was a key part of a defensive effort that allowed just one shot on goal and recorded its sixth shutout of the year in Liberty's 1-0 win over Eastern Illinois in the OVC Quarterfinals Sunday.
Conneh, a junior, led Liberty with six shots over the two contests. In the Flames' first-ever OVC postseason win last Sunday, the forward paced Liberty with four shots against Eastern Illinois, including one goal, which forced a diving save by the Panthers' goalkeeper. On Wednesday, the OVC All-Conference second team member had two shot attempts against HCU.
Liberty finished the season with a 9-5-6 overall record. The Flames outscored their opponents, 36-24, on the year.
