
Liberty MBB Announces Addition of 4-Star Sancomb

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty men's basketball program and head coach Ritchie McKay have announced the addition of four-star recruit Eli Sancomb for the 2026-27 school year.
Sancomb is a 6-5 guard from Wheeling, W.Va. and currently attends Central Catholic High School.
"Eli Sancomb is a natural. He's one of my favorite players that I've recruited because of his ability to make everyone else on the floor better," McKay said. "Flames Nation is going to love the impact he makes on our program and on our campus. His dad is a college coach, and you can tell by the way he plays. He's got a whatever the team needs kind of commitment."
Sancomb is currently ranked as the No. 101 prospect in the Class of 2026 by 247Sports, the highest. He is also the No. 117 prospect nationally, as ranked by On3.
Sancomb was named the 2025 West Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year and led the Central Catholic Maroons to their 13th state title in school history. For his junior season, he averaged 25.8 points, 10.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 2.6 steals while shooting 54.4 percent from the field, 36 percent from three-point territory and 84.8 percent from the free throw line. His other junior year awards included: Evans Award – WV Sports Writers Player of the Year, WVSSAC Class AA State Championship Tournament MVP, WVSSAC Class AA All-State Captain and OVAC Class 3A OVAC Championship Game MVP.
As a sophomore at Central Catholic, Sancomb averaged 18.4 ppg, 7.8 rpg and 3.0 apg while shooting 53.6 percent from the field, 39.1 percent from three and 79.4 percent from the foul line. He was a WVSSAC all-state second team selection and tabbed to the WVSSAC All-Tournament team.
Sancomb has also played for West Virginia Gold on the Pro16 Circuit. This past summer, he was named Puma Circuit Offensive Player of the Year and averaged 15.3 ppg, 6.9 rpg and 5.8 apg while shooting 38.2 percent from three-point land.
Sancomb also played baseball his junior year of high school and football as a freshman. During his junior season on the baseball team, he pitched a no-hitter and helped his squad win the WVSSAC Class AA Baseball state title.
Sancomb's father, Danny, is a longtime Division II men's basketball coach who is in his eighth year as head coach at California University of Pennsylvania. Before that, he was the head coach for 11 years at Wheeling University in West Virginia.
Sancomb is the first announced signee in Liberty's class.
