Fairley, Zealand Named to USTFCCCA XC All-Academic Team

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty's Adelyn Fairley and Allie Zealand were each named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I Women's Cross Country All-Academic Team. Additionally, both the Flames and Lady Flames were honored as USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams for their overall academic success as a program.
Fairley and Zealand helped Coach Heather Zealand's women's cross country squad record a cumulative team GPA of 3.62. Coach Isaac Wendland's men's team boasts a team GPA of 3.06.
The Lady Flames' duo garnered USTFCCCA All-Academic Team recognition by virtue of all-region performances and cumulative GPAs above 3.25. Fairley was previously recognized following the spring 2021, fall 2021 and 2023 cross country seasons, while Zealand became the Lady Flames' first freshman to win this award since 2015 (Ednah Kurgat).
A native of Mears, Mich., Fairley owns a 3.53 cumulative GPA as she pursues a master's degree in visual communication design.
On the course, the CUSA Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year punctuated her collegiate cross country career by placing 77th at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships. Fairley earned her third career all-region medal with an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Division I Southeast Regional Championships. She also finished as the CUSA runner-up for her fifth all-conference recognition.
Zealand recorded a 3.71 GPA during her first semester of college. Undecided on a major, she hails from Forest, Va.
Zealand fashioned an impressive freshman season for the CUSA champion Lady Flames. She came in 20th overall (fifth among freshmen) at the NCAA Division I Southeast Regional Championships, becoming the third Lady Flame ever to make the all-region team. Zealand also recorded a third-place finish at the CUSA Cross Country Championships.
