
Engle, Garner, Magee Secure VaSID All-State Honors

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Three Lady Flames were featured among the top women's soccer players in the state in the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State teams, the organization announced Tuesday. Liberty forward Halle Engle was selected to the All-State first team with forward Ivy Garner and defender Kayla Magee receiving selections to the All-State second team.
The Lady Flames continue to stack up accolades following an impressive 15-2-4 season, finishing as runners-up in the CUSA Women's Soccer Championship. Liberty led Conference USA with a +28 goal differential with 41 scores and a league-best, 13 goals allowed. The Lady Flames finished with the seventh-best winning percentage in the country with a .810 mark.
All three VaSID All-State honorees were also named to United Soccer Coaches All-South Region teams and to the CUSA All-Conference first team.
Engle led all Liberty players with 12 goals and 27 points (three assists), including two goals to top No. 21 Virginia Tech 2-1 on Sept. 5. The forward finished tied for second in the country with seven game-winning goals. The junior scored the opening goal in nine contests this season, guiding the Lady Flames to victory in each instance. Engle was included on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team.
Garner ranked second on Liberty with nine goals and 26 points while pacing the conference with eight assists. Garner finished the season with a nod to the CUSA All-Tournament team after scoring the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over No. 3 seed New Mexico State in the semifinal round. Garner was also recognized as a United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American and a member of the CSC Academic All-District team.
Magee anchored a defense that carried Liberty throughout the 2024 season. Both athletes started all 21 games this season, totaling over 1,750 minutes. Liberty's defense led CUSA with a 0.62 goals-against average (GAA) and 10 shutouts. The back-line held opponents to 7.10 shots per game and 3.04 shots on goal per game.
