BLACKSBURG, Va. – Liberty's shot putters led the way on Saturday, the final day of the Virginia Tech Invitational at Rector Field House. Jordae Edwards' indoor personal-best 54-9.5 heave produced a fourth-place finish in the men's competition, while freshman Bethany Tate's personal-best 44-7 effort ranks No. 10 on the Lady Flames' all-time shot put list.
Women's Day 2 Recap
The lone Liberty women's thrower to compete in this weekend's meet, Tate improved on each of her first four shot put attempts, eventually reaching 44-7 in round four. That was good for eighth place in the competition and No. 10 in program history.
Mia Bowers and Katie Urbine each cleared 12-11.75 in the women's pole vault, finishing ninth and 10th, respectively, in a loaded field. Reigning CUSA Women's Field Athlete of the Week Bowers matched her season best while Urbine recorded her top vault of the season thus far.
Competing in her second event in as many days, Meredith Engle sailed over 5-3.25 for eighth place in the women's high jump.
