Greenhagel Produces Personal-Best Pentathlon for 6th Place

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Appropriate for its namesake, the opening day of the fifth annual Brant Tolsma Invitational consisted solely of multi events. Paige Greenhagel (sixth place in the pentathlon) and Hunter Bleam (third place through four heptathlon events) led the way for the host team, Thursday at the Brant Tolsma Indoor Track at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex.
Greenhagel finished with 3,366 points for sixth place, adding 136 tallies to her previous pentathlon best and ranking No. 6 in CUSA this season. The sophomore's marks included a personal-best 9.51 in the 60 hurdles, a 5-3.25 high jump (matched her indoor best), an indoor personal-best 32-4.75 in the shot put, an 18-0.25 long jump and a season-best 2:38.05 800.
Fellow sophomore Bleam sits third overall (second among collegiate entrants) after accumulating 2,799 points through day one of the heptathlon. His 43-7 shot put landed more than a foot past any of the other 15 heptathletes in the competition.
