After another Conference USA victory to remain atop the league standings, Liberty Head Football Coach Jamey Chadwell met with the media on Tuesday to recap the match-up against UTEP and look ahead to this week's non-conference game against East Carolina.
Â
After Chadwell's weekly presser, Flames' linebacker Teylor Jackson, a East Carolina transfer, and wide receiver Tyson Mobley addressed the media from the Media Room inside the Liberty Football Center.
Â
The Flames have never faced East Carolina on the gridiron and are seeking their first-ever victory over an AAC opponent.
Â
Defending CUSA champion Liberty is the nation's only team with a pair of conference wins in 2024 after topping New Mexico State and UTEP the last two weeks.
Â
The Flames have won a program-record 15 straight regular-season games, including 10 straight home victories.
Â
2023 CUSA Co-Coach of the Year Jamey Chadwell is in his second year at Liberty. He is 16-1 with the Flames and owns a 47-7 coaching record dating back to the start of 2020.
Â
Running back Billy Lucas stepped up during last week's 28-10 win over UTEP, contributing 21 carries for 104 yards and a career-high three rushing touchdowns. His performance followed back-to-back 100-yard efforts by running back Quinton Cooley to begin the year.
Â
Wide receiver Treon Sibley has been quarterback Kaidon Salter's favorite target in 2024 and ranks No. 8 nationally with 341 receiving yards.
Â
The Liberty defense recorded a season-high three takeaways (two interceptions, one fumble recovery) vs. UTEP and held the Miners to 10 points. Defensive end TJ Bush recorded 1.5 sacks in the game, giving him a career-high 3.5 already this season (ranked No. 9 nationally).
