One of Liberty's most experienced returning offensive linemen continues to draw national attention heading into the 2024 season.
    Â
Today, the Flames' Jordan White was named to the 2024 Rimington Trophy Award preseason watch list, which honors the top center in college football.
    Â
A total of 40 players were named to this year's preseason watch list. White was one of two Conference USA representatives on the list as he was joined by New Mexico State's Canaan Yarro.
    Â
This is the second preseason award watch list honor for White. Previously, he was named to the Outland Trophy watch list, which is presented annually to the top interior linemen in college football.
    Â
White, a former transfer from West Virginia, was named to the Conference USA all-conference second team in 2023. He was also a Phil Steele Postseason Conference USA All-Conference first team honoree and was named to the VaSID All-State first team.
    Â
The native of Largo, Md., started all 14 games for the Flames at center last season. He finished the year with a 72.1 offensive grade as ranked by PFF.com and saw playing time on 945-of-1,008 offensive snaps (93.7 percent). He ranked third on the team in total offensive snaps and No. 13 in the country in total offensive snaps by a center by PFF.com.
    Â
Last year, White served as starting center for quarterback Kaidon Salter, who earn HERO Sports Group of Five National Player of the Year honors and CUSA MVP honors after finishing the year with 3,965 total offensive yards.
    Â
The Flames finished the 2023 season with a school record 4,106 rushing yards and had the country's No. 1 rushing offense (293.3 yards per game).
    Â
Liberty also ranked No. 4 nationally in total offense (499.1 yards per game) and No. 9 in scoring offense (38.3 points per game).
    Â
The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the most outstanding center in NCAA Division I College Football. Since its inception, the award has raised over $5 million for the Boomer Esiason Foundation.
    Â
Dave Rimington, the award's namesake, was a consensus first-team All-America center at the University of Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which time he became the John Outland Trophy's only two-time winner as the nation's finest college interior lineman.
