
White Named to Outland Trophy Preseason Watch List

Following an all-conference and all-state first season with the Flames, Liberty's Jordan White has been named to the 2024 Outland Trophy Preseason Watch List.

The Outland Trophy is presented annually to the top interior linemen in college football. White is one of 75 players named to the preseason watch list, which includes players from all 10 NCAA FBS conferences and independent programs.

White, a former transfer from West Virginia, was named to the Conference USA all-conference second team in 2023. He was also a Phil Steele Postseason Conference USA All-Conference first team honoree and was named to the VaSID all-state first team.

The native of Largo, Md., started all 14 games for the Flames at center last season. He finished the year with a 72.1 offensive grade as ranked by PFF.com and saw playing time on 945-of-1,008 offensive snaps (93.7 percent). He ranked third on the team in total offensive snaps and No. 13 in the country in total offensive snaps by a center by PFF.com.

Last year, White served as starting center for quarterback Kaidon Salter, who earn HERO Sports Group of Five National Player of the Year honors and CUSA MVP honors after finishing the year with 3,965 total offensive yards.

The Flames finished the 2023 season with a school record 4,106 rushing yards and had the country's No. 1 rushing offense (293.3 yards per game).

Liberty also ranked No. 4 nationally in total offense (499.1 yards per game) and No. 9 in scoring offense (38.3 points per game).

White is one of four Conference USA representatives on the list. He is joined by WKU offensive guard Quantavious Leslie, New Mexico State offensive tackle Shiyazh Pete and Jax State offensive guard Clay Webb.

The SEC had 18 players named to the Outland Trophy Preseason Watch List, followed by 13 players from the Big Ten. Nine players from the ACC and Big 12 were on the list, seven from the Mountain West, five from the American, four from Conference USA, the Mid-American and Sun Belt have three each, and the Pac-12 and Independents have two each.

The recipient of the 2024 Outland Trophy will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards, live on ESPN on Dec. 12, 2024. The official presentation to the winner will be made at the Outland Trophy Awards Dinner sponsored by Werner Enterprises and produced by the Greater Omaha Sports Committee in Omaha, Neb., on Jan. 22, 2025.

The Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) will announce the Outland Trophy semifinalists on Nov. 20, and those players will then be paired down to three finalists announced on Nov. 26. The Outland Trophy winner is chosen from those finalists who will be part of the annual FWAA All-America Team.
