
Liberty Men’s Tennis Unveils 2024-25 Season Schedule

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty Flames men's tennis team has announced its full 2024-25 schedule. The Flames open the 2024 spring season at home against Radford on Jan. 18 at the Liberty Indoor Tennis Center.
The Flames look to improve on a 2024 campaign that concluded with an 18-9 overall record and finished No. 56 in the ITA national rankings. In its debut season in Conference USA, Liberty finished as runners-up in the CUSA Men's Tennis Championship and achieved a semifinal run at the 2024 Universal Tennis NIT Championship.
Liberty is scheduled to play across six tournaments in the fall season, highlighted by the ITA Atlantic Regional hosted by Old Dominion from Oct. 10-14. Liberty is set to host an eight-team hidden dual from Sept. 27-29 at the Liberty Tennis Complex with opponents to be announced later.
The Flames' challenging spring schedule includes five teams that participated in the 2024 NCAA Men's Tennis Championship including four conference tournament champions. These foes with its final 2024 ITA rankings include No. 36 Princeton, No. 38 VCU (A10), No. 46 Charlotte (AAC), No. 54 Old Dominion (Sun Belt) and No. 60 UNCW (CAA). Liberty went 2-3 last season against the above teams.
Liberty hosts a total of nine home matches including hosting four consecutive contests from Feb. 2-9. The Flames' hit the road for a total of five road matches. The team will participate in five neutral site matches between the ITA Kickoff Weekend (Jan. 24-26) and the Arizona State Invitational (March 7-9).
In addition, seven total opponents landed in the final season ITA rankings with the inclusion of No. 45 FAU and No. 73 Penn. Penn is the only opponent on the 2024-25 schedule that the Flames did not meet last season, but the programs met in a hidden dual event last fall.
The spring schedule features a single CUSA opponent as the Flames are set to host Jax State on April 6. The CUSA Men's Tennis Championship will be held April 19-21 at a to be determined location with the winner receiving an automatic bid into the 2025 NCAA Men's Tennis Championship. Liberty will have to wait for the CUSA Men's Tennis Championship for a potential title game rematch with Middle Tennessee.
Liberty is set to compete at the ITA Kickoff Weekend from Jan. 24-26, marking the fourth time in the last five seasons the Flames have received an invite. The Flames' will discover their opponents and location for the event at The ITA Kickoff weekend draft that will take place later this summer. Liberty last participated in the prestigious event in 2023, hosted by then No. 5 Kentucky.
The Flames are slated to face four in-state programs next season. They will be hosting Radford and VCU (April 13), while traveling to face Old Dominion (Feb. 28) and William & Mary (March 2). Liberty collected a 7-3 record against in-state foes last season.
Liberty has accepted an invite to return to the Diablos Tennis Tournament for the third consecutive season, the event hosted by Arizona State will be played from March 7-9. The Flames are 2-4 all-time in the tournament with a pair of 4-1 triumphs victorious over Michigan State in 2023 and Grand Canyon last season.
The Flames' 2025 opponents owned a combined 202-173 (53.8 winning percentage) record last season, led by Princeton with a 22-8 mark. The Flames own a collective 44-76 all-time mark (36.6 winning percentage) against next season's foes. With the exception of Penn, Liberty faced all of its scheduled 2025 opponents last season. The Flames went 10-4 (71.4 winning percentage) against these teams.
