LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty Athletics held its 2024 Student-Athlete Graduation Celebration on Monday morning at Osborne Stadium to recognize the accomplishments of its graduating class.
A total of 133 Liberty Flames student-athletes will be honored as a part of the 2024 Liberty University graduating class. The event served as a combined Cord Ceremony for the athletic department.
"Liberty mission is to train champions for Christ, and that is what you are. You are champions in your sport, champions in the classroom, champions for Christ and champions in the community," Liberty Vice President and Director of Athletics Ian McCaw told the graduates. "Your Liberty degree will set you up for great success in the years to come. May God bless each of you."
The Student-Athlete Graduation Celebration featured individual and group photos, along with food trucks, games and music to celebrate the academic year for all current Liberty NCAA student-athletes.
The event served as a prelude to next weekend's (May 9-11) Liberty University 51st Commencement exercises. The 2024 Commencement Main Ceremony will be held on Friday, May 10 at 7 p.m. at Williams Stadium. The Main Ceremony speaker will be U.S. Senator Tim Scott. Degree presentation ceremonies will be held on May 9, 10 and 11.
"From the day you stepped foot on campus, you pursued excellence in the classroom, on the field of competition and in the community," said Liberty Senior Associate Athletic Director for Academic Affairs Kristie Beitz. "Remember that you are forever a member of the Flames family. Once a Flame, always a Flame!"
The 133 Liberty student-athletes are among the over 29,000* total Liberty University graduates expected this May. Commencement 2024 is expected to be one of the largest in the school's history. Liberty is preparing for over 60,000 graduates, family members, friends and other special guests to participate in Commencement events.
Liberty Athletics would like to congratulate this talented and unique group of 133 individuals as they finish up their degrees and also applaud their many on-the-field accomplishments during their time as Liberty student-athletes.
Many of these individuals helped Liberty win conference championships. However, all have proudly donned a Liberty Athletics uniform, while striving to become Champions for Christ.
