After the Flames took a 1-0 advantage in the top of the first, the Bulldogs countered in the bottom of the inning with two runs on a home run by second baseman John Anderson for a 2-1 edge. Samford then plated five runs in the second to take control of the non-conference contest.
With the victory, Samford, the Southern Conference leader, takes the series 2-1. Liberty falls to 18-25 on the year. Samford improves to 28-15.
