Samford Powers Past Liberty

BIRMINGHAM, ALA. – The Samford Bulldogs jumped into the lead in the first inning and never trailed after that on Sunday, downing the Liberty Flames 12-1 at Joe Lee Griffin Field. The game ended in the seventh inning due to run rule.

After the Flames took a 1-0 advantage in the top of the first, the Bulldogs countered in the bottom of the inning with two runs on a home run by second baseman John Anderson for a 2-1 edge. Samford then plated five runs in the second to take control of the non-conference contest.

With the victory, Samford, the Southern Conference leader, takes the series 2-1. Liberty falls to 18-25 on the year. Samford improves to 28-15.
