After the Flames cut the Hokies' lead to 4-3 in the top of the seventh inning, Virginia Tech answered with eight runs in the bottom of the inning to take control of the contest.
Left fielder Brayden Horton drove in all three of Liberty's runs with a two-run single and an RBI double.
Liberty drops to 15-17 overall. Virginia Tech snaps a three-game losing streak and improves to 22-8.
