
No. 61 Flames Rebound with 5-2 Victory Over No. 42 Old Dominion

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty men's tennis team came alive in the singles round to storm back to defeat No. 42 Old Dominion 4-2 at home Friday. The match was the first outdoor match at the Liberty Tennis Complex this spring.
The Flames (11-5) dropped the doubles point to Old Dominion (10-4) for the fourth consecutive match. The Monarchs jumped ahead with the first singles point on court four. Liberty stormed back with five unanswered singles points to steal the 5-2 victory.
No. 111 Rafael Marques Da Silva cemented his singles ranking with a key 7-6 (3), 6-4 victory over No. 83 Connor van Schalkyk to put the Flames on the doorstep with the third match point.
Liberty improves to 7-1 at home in 2024 while collecting its fourth consecutive victory over Old Dominion. The Flames are 4-11 all-time against the Monarchs.

- Liberty kicked off the singles round positively with a 6-4 Rafael Marques Da Silva and Thando Longwe-Smit (5-4) triumph over Connor van Schalkwyk and Jacob Cadonau.
- Old Dominion evened the doubles round in the No. 3 doubles match. Romeo Hadzimehmedovic and Deji Thomas-Smith (1-3) fell to Maxime Mareschal-Hay and Yanis Moundir 6-4.
- The Monarchs clinched the doubles advantage with a triumph on court two. Luis Felipe Miguel and Matija Samardzic (10-3) were taken down 6-4 by Cosme Rolland De Ravel and Codie van Schalkwyk.
