
Men’s Tennis Travels to Princeton for Sunday Matchup

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Flames tennis team hits the road for just the second time this season to take on Princeton Sunday. First serve is set for 10 a.m. from the Jadwin Gymnasium.
Princeton (2-3) is coming back home a 1-1 weekend from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Kickoff Weekend in Fort Worth, Texas.
Liberty (4-1) looks to extend a four-match winning streak with all four victories coming from its home courts.
Liberty sophomore Luis Felipe Miguel was awarded the Conference USA Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week on Wednesday following a 4-0 performance (2-0 doubles, 2-0 singles) on Saturday.
The Flames fell in their only previous matchup with Princeton, falling 6-1 on the road.

- After kicking off the season with a loss at No. 1 Virginia, the Flames have rattled off four straight wins over Virginia programs in consecutive doubleheaders.
- Senior Rafael Marques Da Silva has made four appearances in the No. 1 singles position. Marques Da Silva earned a match off, sitting as Liberty topped Longwood 7-0 Saturday night.
- Miguel proved vital for the Flames last Saturday en route to being recognized as the CUSA Athlete of the Week. The sophomore clinched the doubles point and the match-clinching fourth point against James Madison. Miguel followed that performance by again clinching the doubles point facing Longwood and earning his first match victory in the No. 1 singles position.
- True freshman Rodrigo Santiago Arraez and redshirt freshman Chase Robinson share a 4-0 singles record to kick off the 2024 season and their Liberty spring season careers. Before this season, no freshman under head coach Derek Schwandt had achieved a 3-0 start to a spring season. Freshman Romeo Hadzimehmedovic has begun his Liberty career with a 2-0 singles mark.

- Princeton is currently 2-3 in 2024 with defeats facing top programs including NC State and Duke.
- The Tigers finished 2023 with a 16-13 record (3-4 Ivy League) and a No. 55 ITA Ranking. Princeton's season came to an end with a 6-1 loss to No. 10 Harvard.
