
Roothman Secures Three Victories at M15 Stellenbosch

STELLENBOSCH, South Africa. – Liberty senior Carl Roothman secured a 3-1 record at the ITF M15 Stellenbosch in South Africa, including a main draw 6-3, 6-1 triumph in the main draw.
Roothman earned a pair of victories in the qualifying round to secure a spot in the main draw. The Oklahoma State transfer topped Gabriele Volpi 6-1, 6-3 and Elias Werner 6-3, 6-4 to advance into the main draw.
On Tuesday, Roothman bested Tristan Stringer 6-3, 6-1 in the first round of the event. The triumph secured his first-ever ATP point.
In the second round of the main draw, the Liberty senior was matched up with Niels Visker. Roothman battled throughout the match but fell 6-1, 6-1, concluding his run at the tournament.
Roothman participated in the event along with former Flame and fellow native South African Thando Longwe-Smit. The 2024 graduate was a wild card selection and picked up a first round triumph.
Two Flames, Roothman and Ernst Gouws are slated to participate in a second M15 Stellenbosch ITF event next week.
