Following an overtime road win at UMass, Liberty Head Football Coach Jamey Chadwell met with the media on Tuesday to talk about this week's Conference USA match-up against Western Kentucky.
Â
After Chadwell's weekly presser, Flames' running back Quinton Cooley and linebacker Jerome Jolly, Jr., two of Liberty' 15 seniors who will be honored on Saturday, addressed the media from the Media Room inside the Liberty Football Center.
Â
The top two squads in the CUSA preseason poll, the Flames and WKU join Jax State and Sam Houston as contenders for a berth in the CUSA Championship Game with two regular-season contests remaining.
Liberty is 4-0 all-time against the Hilltoppers, who have not visited Lynchburg since the 1995 season finale.
Â
The Flames have bounced back from a two-game losing skid with consecutive road wins. Most recently, Liberty erased a 20-7 halftime deficit to record a 35-34 (OT) victory at UMass last Saturday.
Â
Jamey Chadwell is 20-3 in his second year at Liberty and owns a 51-9 coaching record dating back to the start of 2020. He became the Flames' fastest head coach ever to reach 20 victories (23 games).
Â
Quarterback Kaidon Salter rushed for a pair of touchdowns at UMass a week ago. He played well during last season's 42-29 triumph at WKU, completing 10-of-15 passes for 189 yards and three touchdowns. He also led the Flames' ground attack with 13 carries for 117 yards and a touchdown.
Â
Running back Quinton Cooley has notched three straight 100-yard games on the ground, leaving him just two yards shy of making it back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. At UMass, Cooley toted the ball 20 times for 147 yards and matched his career high of three touchdowns. His five-yard rushing touchdown in overtime set the stage for Colin Karhu's game-winning extra point.
