
Carter and Cooley Selected as CUSA Players of the Week

Liberty's offensive and defensive leaders during a road win at UMass have been named this week's Conference USA Players of the Week.
Running back Quinton Cooley has been selected this week's Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, while linebacker Joseph Carter was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week.
The pair helped rally the Flames for a 35-34 road win at UMass, moving the team to 7-2 on the year following Liberty's second overtime victory in 2024.
Cooley led Liberty's rushing attack, carrying the ball 20 times for 147 yards. He averaged 7.4 yards per carry and matched his career high with three rushing touchdowns.
The running back also posted his seventh 100-yard game of 2024 and 14th of his career as a Flame. His third and final touchdown of the game came in overtime, allowing Liberty to secure the road victory.
The native of Bailey, N.C., currently ranks No. 2 in Conference USA, averaging 110.9 yards per game and has 11 rushing touchdowns.
Carter paced Liberty's defensive effort, finishing the overtime game with 11 tackles (five solo, six assisted). He recorded his fourth double-digit tackle game of the 2024 season.
The native of Jacksonville, Fla., leads the Flames on the season with 68 tackles, including 37 solo stops and 31 assisted tackles. He has 25 more tackles than defensive end CJ Bazile, Jr. (43), who ranks second on Liberty's roster.
What's Next:
The Flames will wrap up their regular season home schedule with a celebration of their senior class on Senior Day when they host Western Kentucky (7-3, 5-1 CUSA), next Saturday, at Williams Stadium.
The Flames' final home game of the regular season will also be Military Appreciation Day at Williams Stadium. Liberty will spend the day honoring those who protect our freedom, including a moving halftime presentation by the Spirit of the Mountain marching band where all branches of the military will be honored for their service.
