LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty men's basketball program has announced the addition of Zander Carter for the 2025-26 school year.
Carter is 6-6 guard from Greenup, Ky. who currently attends Paul G. Blazer High School, the same high school of current Flames junior guard Colin Porter.
"We've been waiting to make Zander's commitment official for a while. Ever since I went to see Colin (Porter) play in Ashland, I felt like Zander would be a phenomenal addition to our program," stated Liberty Men's Basketball Head Coach Ritchie McKay. "He's got great versatility and basketball IQ and has a terrific ownership of being a part of something bigger than himself."
As a junior, Carter led his squad to a 23-11 overall mark, region and AIT titles and a Sweet 16 appearance at the state tournament while averaging 22.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Through three seasons at Paul G. Blazer High school, he is already the school's all-time leading scorer. During his junior campaign, he earned Regional and Tri-State Player of the Year honors, first team all-state recognition, Regional Tournament MVP distinction and AIT Tournament MVP honors.
Carter averaged 22.9 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 3.0 apg and 2.0 spg as a sophomore while guiding the Tomcats to a 23-12 record, a region title and Elite Eight appearance. His accolades included: Regional Tournament MPVP, AIT All-Tournament team, Regional and Tri-State Player of the Year and second team all-state selection.
Carter made an impact as a freshman at Paul G. Blazer High School as well, averaging 11.1 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 2.3 apg and 1.3 spg. The Tomcats were district, region and AIT Tournament champions while reaching the Final Four of the state tournament. The guard was named to the AIT and Regional All-Tournament teams.
Carter has played at the AAU level for the Midwest Basketball Club and participated in the Adidas 3SSB Circuit.
