SALEM, Va. – For the second time in three weeks, the Liberty women's cross country "B" team recorded a lofty finish. Saturday morning's result was a team victory at the Roanoke XC Invitational at Green Hill Park.
Katrina Schlenker (third place, 20:47.0) paced four Lady Flames who finished inside the top 10 of the women's 6K race. Liberty totaled 32 points, outdistancing the only other Division I squads in the 15-team field (ETSU – 2nd place, 49 points and Radford – 3rd place, 66 points).
The Lady Flames' "B" squad previously notched a third-place finish in the Paul Short Run brown race on Oct. 5.
Race Reactions
Next up for Liberty will be the 2024 CUSA Cross Country Championships. That event will take place on Nov. 2 at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala. The women's 6K will begin at 9:30 a.m. Eastern and will be followed by the men's 8K at 10:30 a.m. Eastern.

Race Reactions
- Schlenker shattered her previous 6K best of 21:51.2 by over a minute, becoming the seventh Lady Flame ever to clock a sub-21:00 6K. She was the first of four Liberty women to do so on Saturday, as Adelyn Fairley, Allie Zealand and Ava Gordon all dipped under 21 minutes at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals later in the morning.
- All 14 Lady Flames who raced at the Roanoke XC Invitational on Saturday recorded new 6K PRs, taking advantage of the fast course and ideally dry, cool racing conditions. They also included Rachel Hill (seventh place, 21:22.3), Emma Ervi (eighth, 21:26.4), Sophia Park (10th, 21:38.4), Raini Mayo (14th, 21:47.8), Danielle Hostetler (16th, 21:58.6), Payton Holtz (21st, 22:26.7), Rebecca Brown (24th, 22:40.9), Grace Ervi (26th, 22:41.8), Sophia Mast (31st, 22:49.9), Anna Fletcher (39th, 23:07.8), Grace Chelberg (58th, 24:07.8), Julia Seeley (60th, 24:16.5) and Lila Bensenhaver (64th, 24:28.6).
