
Liberty Closes Out Tribe Invitational with Four Draw Titles

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Lady Flames tennis team secured four finals victories, including three singles draws, to finish out the Tribe Invitational on Sunday. Liberty won five of 11 total matches today, including five of 10 total draw finals.
Senior Marina Davtyan finished the weekend with a perfect 6-0 singles record, along with a 3-0 doubles mark with partner Daniella O'Neill. Davtyan secured the Black Singles draw title today along with the Griffin Doubles draw title. O'Neill, who had not played in live competition for over a year, secured a doubles title in her first collegiate tournament.
Freshman Maria Turchetto did not drop a game in the final match to secure the title of the White draw in her first collegiate tournament.
Junior Bruna Sampaio was also victorious today, securing a victory in all three matches in a round-robin format to claim the Yellow Singles draw.

The Lady Flames will now have three weeks to prepare for their next event, the Liberty Hidden Duals, which they host starting on Oct. 7.

- Esther Lovato fell in the Gold Singles draw to William & Mary's Hedda Gurholt 6-3, 4-6, 10-5. Lovato went 3-2 over the weekend after she and partner Elsa Kirch were taken down by Richmond's Lainey O'Neil and Elizabeth Novak in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (4).
- Davtyan fought to a tough title victory today in the Black Singles draw, topping William & Mary's Francesca Davis 7-5, 7-5.
- Davtyan and O'Neill won two doubles matches today, besting Richmond's O'Neil and Novak (beat Lovato/Kirch in the prior round) to the of 6-4 tune. O'Neill did not play singles in the event.
- Turchetto, rolled past her opponent, William & Mary's Yaelle Vaissud, 6-0, 6-0, to claim the White Singles title. Turchetto went 4-1 (1-1 doubles) across the weekend, playing doubles with Maria Julianna Parra Romero.
- Sampaio was victorious 6-4, 4-6, 10-3, over William & Mary's Julia Monroe to go 3-0 in her round-robin Yellow Singles draw. Sampaio did not play doubles.
- Freshman Saide Daavettila fell in the Grey Singles final to Richmond's Claire De Luc 3-6, 6-1, 7-10. Daavettila went 3-2 overall in her first collegiate tournament. She and her partner Tiffany Nguyen fell to Penn's Esha Velaga and Eileen Wang 6-0.
