
Holland Listed as a United Soccer Coaches Player to Watch for Midfielders

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty's Saydie Holland was included among midfielders on the United Soccer Coaches 2023 NCAA Division l Players to Watch on Friday.
Holland is one of 38 women from across the country recognized by United Soccer Coaches. The Waverly, Tenn. native is the third Lady Flame to be included on a Players to Watch list, following GK Ainsley Leja and D Bridie Herman.
Holland was named to the Conference USA 2023 Preseason All-Conference team. Including Holland, the Lady Flames had a league-high five players represented on the team.
The midfielder was selected to the ASUN All-Conference second team and the ASUN All-Tournament team in 2022. Holland was also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region second team and the VaSID All-State second team.
The imposing midfielder proved to be crucial in 17 starts, tallying four goals and three assists on the year. Holland notched a season high two goals in the ASUN quarterfinals, leading the team to a 3-0 victory over Jacksonville (Oct. 27).
The watch lists are compiled and released by the Division I All-America Committees to promote college soccer leading up to the official start date for the regular season later this month. The lists include United Soccer Coaches All-Americans and first or second-team All-Region players from 2022, who are scheduled to return for the 2023 season.
United Soccer Coaches plans to release the Players to Watch for forwards on Tuesday.
Liberty opens the season on the road taking on VCU on Thursday at 7 p.m. and will hold its home opener a week from Sunday (Aug. 20), hosting Delaware at 1 p.m.
