
Student-Athletes Continue to Excel In Classroom with 3.28 Cumulative GPA

Liberty Athletics will head into Conference USA with its highest recorded overall athletics department GPA in school history.
Liberty Athletics finished the 2022-23 academic year with a 3.28 cumulative GPA, the highest year-end mark in athletics department history.
Overall, the cumulative GPA for Liberty's 590-plus student-athletes has risen in 11 out of the last 13 semesters.Â
Following the conclusion of the 2022-23 academic year, Liberty Athletics continues to have 19 of its 20 NCAA Division I athletics programs maintain a 3.0 or higher team cumulative GPA.
Individually, a total of 104 student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA during the Spring 2023 semester, while 72 finished the 2022-23 academic year with an unblemished 4.0 GPA.
At the conclusion of the Spring 2023 semester, 415 student-athletes are maintaining a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA (70.2 percent).
Paving the way for the Flames' student-athletes to succeed in the classroom is Liberty's Academic Affairs for Athletics staff.
This group of dedicated individuals spends countless hours each week working alongside Liberty's 590-plus student-athletes. Their staff continues to help Liberty student-athletes thrive in their pursuit of academic, athletic, social and spiritual development.
The race for the top team cumulative GPA in the athletics department continues to be a two-team battle between women's swimming & diving and volleyball.
The Lady Flames swimming & diving team continues to hold the top spot with a 3.68 cumulative GPA. However, volleyball finished 2022-23 with a 3.74 GPA, tops among all Liberty's 20 NCAA Division I teams, allowed them to inch closer to swimming & diving with a 3.66 cumulative GPA.
Liberty's swimming & diving team also had success in the pool, claiming its fifth-straight CCSA title, while the volleyball team captured the ASUN regular season title and advanced to postseason play in the NIVC.
Men's golf, who claimed its seventh conference title in 2023, leads all of Liberty's men's athletics programs with a 3.45 cumulative team GPA.
All 12 of Liberty's teams who claimed a conference or regular season title during the 2022-23 academic year posted hold a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA.
During the Flames' fifth and final season as a member of the ASUN Conference, Liberty claimed conference titles in men's golf (3.45 GPA), men's indoor track & field, men's outdoor track & field (3.19 GPA), women's indoor track & field and women's outdoor track & field (3.49 GPA).
Liberty also claimed ASUN regular season titles in men's basketball (3.12 GPA), men's tennis (3.32 GPA), volleyball (3.66 GPA), women's lacrosse (3.44 GPA) and women's soccer (3.52 GPA).
As mentioned previously, Liberty's swimming & diving program claimed its fourth-straight and fifth overall CCSA title, while field hockey (3.46 PGA) claimed its second BIG EAST title.
