Lady Flames End Spring Regular Season With Narrow 4-3 Road Loss at FGCU
4/8/2023 9:37:35 PM | Women's Tennis
FGCU edged Liberty 4-3 at home on Saturday night at the FGCU Tennis Complex with seeding implications on the line for both programs for the upcoming ASUN Championship.
Liberty finished the scheduled portion of the spring with a 15-8 overall record and a 6-2 ASUN record. FGCU ends its spring regular season with a 15-6 record and a 6-2 conference record.
Liberty grabbed the doubles point after dropping the first match on court two with consecutive wins on courts three and one. The two teams exchanged points with multiple ties as the match came down to just one matchup on court four. The final match favored the Eagles in a tough third set.
Liberty’s woes versus the Eagles continue as they fall to 1-6 all-time facing the program. The Lady Flames could see the Eagles once more this season in postseason play at some juncture.
Thoughts From Head Coach Jeff Maren“We decided before the match that we would give everything we had and would use our gifts to honor God. We did both of those things today. We will win some and we will lose some, but what will remain the same will always be our effort and our commitment to honoring the Lord.”
