Flames Surging During Halted Round 2 at Mossy Oak Collegiate

No. 41 Liberty is one of five teams who are currently double digits under par midway through the second round of the 2023 Mossy Oak Collegiate.
Round 1 was delayed during the morning flight due to course conditions, making it challenging for the 18-team field to finish two trips around the Mossy Oak Golf Course (par 72, 7,212 yards) on Monday.
Play was suspended at 7:15 p.m. CST with most teams needing six to nine holes to complete their second round.
Liberty was one of the hottest teams on the course when play was halted. The Flames are currently 13-under par during their second round in the Mississippi State-hosted event.
No. 4 Auburn and No. 15 Tennessee sit atop the leaderboard at 28-under par. Tournament host and No. 21 ranked Mississippi State is in third place at 24-under par.
No. 23 Ole Miss is three shots clear of Liberty at 22-under par. The Flames currently share fifth place with No. 33 Cincinnati, with both teams at 19-under par.
The 18-team field includes nine teams that entered the week ranked inside the top 50 in the latest Golfstat national rankings.
A total of 58 players in the 100-man field are currently in red figures. Ole Miss’ Sarut Vongchaisit leads the field at 13-under par, while Cincinnati’s Ryan Ford is one shot back at 12-under par.
All five of Liberty’s golfers are currently under par with Jonathan Yaun leading the way. The senior is tied for 11th place at 6-under par.
Connor Polender and Josh Ryan are 3-under par for the second round and are tied for 22nd overall at 4-under par.
Round 2 will resume tomorrow at 8 a.m. CST with the third and final round to follow on Tuesday afternoon.
