
No. 67 Flames Take Down Lions 7-0, Friday

No. 67 Liberty earned its fifth straight ASUN win with a 7-0 sweep over North Alabama Friday at the Liberty Tennis Complex.
The Flames (10-8, 5-0 ASUN) earned the doubles point with victories on courts three and two. Liberty used that momentum to take all six singles matches, dropping just one set across the board.
Liberty has yet to lose to UNA (5-7, 1-2 ASUN), improving to 5-0 all-time against the school. The Flames also bolstered their home record this spring to 6-4. Three of Liberty's five ASUN wins so far have been by a 7-0 sweep, and the two other triumphs were by a 6-1 score. The Flames have outpaced their league counterparts by a combined 33-2 score.

How It Happened
• The Flames rolled to their first doubles win on court three, with Beau Pelletier and Rafael Marques Da Silva (4-1) knocking off Chris Zhang and Federico Scotuzzi 6-2.
• Liberty took the doubles point with Deji Thomas-Smith and Luis Felipe Miguel (10-3) cruising to a 6-1 win over Guilherme Diniz and Lachlan Brain in the No. 2 singles contest.
•The Flames earned their first singles point on court one as senior Josh Wilson took down Brain with two 6-2 sets. Wilson improved his record to 9-8 at No. 1 singles.
• Liberty claimed its third point from No. 5 singles player Miguel, who ousted Zhang 6-4, 6-2. Miguel continues to build on his strong season, now carrying an 11-5 record.
• The Flames received the match-clinching point on court three thanks to Thomas-Smith defeating Nazar Federyshyn 6-2, 6-3.
• The Flames added a fifth point at No. 4 singles, with senior Beau Pelletier topping Diniz in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
• Liberty added a win on court two for a 6-0 advantage. Marques Da Silva edged Carlos Materredona 6-3, 7-5.
• Liberty earned the seventh point and the sweep thanks to Thando Longwe-Smit taking down Federico Scotuzzi on court six in a third set 10-point tiebreaker. Longwe-Smit fought back after dropping the first set to win 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-2).
Next Up
• The Flames come back to play Jacksonville State (10-7, 2-1 ASUN) at home on Sunday at 2 p.m. The match will be played at the Liberty Tennis Complex.
• Liberty is 2-1 all-time versus the Gamecocks, but the Flames won their last matchup by a 5-2 score on March 25, 2022.
• Sunday is Senior Day for the Liberty men's tennis program. Prior to the match, the team will honor its four-player senior class – Josh Wilson, Christiaan Worst, Zion Heaven and Beau Pelletier.
