McGhee Named 2022-23 AP All-America Honorable Mention

Associated Press 2022-23 All-America Men's Basketball Team
Darius McGhee of Liberty has named a 2022-23 Associated Press All-America men’s basketball honorable mention selection.
McGhee is only the second player in program history to garner the prestigious distinction from the AP and first since Jesse Sanders in 2011.
McGhee is one of 17 players on the All-America honorable mention listing. To be named honorable mention, players must appear on multiple voters’ ballots. The AP also lists five players each as first team, second team and third team All-Americans. McGhee is among elite company as one of only 32 players nationally to be included on the listing All-America listing.
McGhee was recently selected as a finalist for both the 2022-23 Lute Olson National Player of the Year and Lou Henson National Player of the Year awards, which are both presented by collegeinsider.com.
McGhee received his third straight ASUN Player of the Year award this season. The redshirt senior guard from Roxboro, N.C. currently ranks second nationally in total three-pointers (158), threes per game (4.51) and total points (790) and fourth in the country in scoring average at 22.6 points per game. He is also No. 8 in the nation in total field goals with 264.
McGhee’s other awards this season include: 2022-23 John R. Wooden Award® presented by Wendy’s® Preseason Top 50 Watch List, 2023 Bob Cousy Award Watch List, unanimous ASUN All-Conference first team selection, NABC District 3 first team, USBWA All-District team, ASUN All-Tournament team, Cancun Challenge All-Tournament team and MVP of the Hall of Fame Classic game.
