LYNCHBURG, Va. – Just one meet into the indoor track & field season, Liberty has set its schedule for the upcoming 2024 outdoor track & field campaign.
Staying Close to Home
The Flames will only host one meet, the Liberty Twilight Qualifier on May 1. However, Liberty will remain close to home for much of the season.
Liberty will compete in the Hill City on three other occasions, traveling across town to the University of Lynchburg for the Hornet Open (March 29-30) and Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic (April 12-13) and taking part in Randolph's WildCat Track Festival on April 6.
The Flames are planning back-to-back trips to Charlottesville for the Virginia Grand Prix (April 12-13) and Virginia Challenge (April 19-20).
Liberty will also hop across the border for four meets in North Carolina, including the first three weekends of the season (49er Classic in Charlotte – March 14-16, Bob Davidson Memorial Invitational in High Point – March 22-23 and Raleigh Relays – March 28-30). Liberty is also slated for the Charlotte Invitational, April 26-27.
Soaking Up the Sun
Liberty's two lengthy trips during the regular season will take the Flames to sunny locations.
Liberty will compete in Gainesville, Fla., for the first time since 2007 when it takes part in the Florida Relays, March 29-30.
For the third year in a row, the Flames will send a group of athletes to Azusa, Calif., for the Bryan Clay Invitational, April 11-13.
Championship Season
Liberty's first Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships appearance will take place at UTEP's Kidd Field, May 10-12 in El Paso, Texas.
The NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round will be contested at the UK Outdoor Track & Field Complex in Lexington, Ky., for the first time since 2017. The four-day event will span May 22-25.
For the third time in the last four years, the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships will return to Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., June 5-8.
