The record-breaking season continues for the Flames as Liberty has received its first-ever listing in the College Football Playoff rankings.
    Â
The CFP committee released its fourth College Football Playoff rankings of the 2023 season tonight on ESPN and Liberty is ranked No. 25 this week.
    Â
Liberty is off to its best start in school history with an 11-0 record and a 7-0 mark in its first season as a member of Conference USA. The Flames will host the CUSA Football Championship game on Dec. 1 against New Mexico State.
    Â
Liberty was one of two Group of Five schools listed in this week's College Football Playoff rankings. The Flames joined Tulane (10-1 overall, 7-0 AAC) who was ranked No. 23.
    Â
Liberty is the third Conference USA team to be ranked in the College Football Playoff rankings. Former conference members UTSA (2021 and 2022) and Marshall (2014 and 2020) have been ranked in the CFP rankings. Marshall had the highest CFP ranking in CUSA history at No. 21 during Week 13 and Week 14 of the 2020 season.
    Â
Liberty is coming off a 49-25 victory over UMass on Saturday during the Flames' final home regular season game of 2023. The win set a new single-season record for wins, surpassing the Flames' win total in 2008 (10-2) and 2020 (10-1).
