
Salter Garners Additional Davey O’Brien and Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Awards

Liberty quarterback Kaidon Salter continues to grab the attention of the national award groups for his stellar play during the 2023 season.
Today, Salter was named one of 20 semifinalists for the 2023 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award. Additionally, he was also named the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week for Week 11 of the college football season.
This year's Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award semifinalist class includes: Carson Beck (Georgia), Brady Cook (Missouri), Jayden Daniels (LSU), Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss), Quinn Ewers (Texas), Dillon Gabriel (Oklahoma), Sam Hartman (Notre Dame), Drake Maye (North Carolina), J.J. McCarthy (Michigan), Jordan McCloud (James Madison), Kyle McCord (Ohio State), Jalen Milroe (Alabama), Bo Nix (Oregon), Michael Penix Jr. (Washington), Michael Pratt (Tulane), Kaidon Salter (Liberty), Shedeur Sanders (Colorado), Jordan Travis (Florida State), DJ Uiagalelei (Oregon State) and Caleb Williams (USC).
The 20 quarterbacks have helped guide their respective teams to a combined record of 171-30 (.851) and lead 18 of the top 25 teams in the latest Associated Press poll. In all, eight FBS conferences as well as one football independent are represented on the list.
This is the second time this year Salter has been named the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week. He also took home the honor on September 19 after throwing for 344 yards and five touchdowns in a road win over Buffalo.
Salter has led the Flames to the best start in program history at 10-0 and has Liberty sitting atop the Conference USA standings with a perfect 7-0 record.
Liberty has been ranked No. 25 in the Associated Press top 25 poll each of the last two weeks, placing the Flames in the national polls for the third year in the last four seasons.
This past week, Salter accounted for all five of Liberty's touchdowns in a convincing 38-10 win over in-state foe Old Dominion.
The native of Cedar Hill, Texas, finished the Old Dominion game with three passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns. This was his third game in a row with three or more passing touchdowns and the third time this season with two rushing touchdowns.
The sophomore completed 13-of-22 passing attempts for 225 yards, his fifth game this season with 225 or more passing yards.
Following Week 11 of the college football season, Salter currently ranks No. 1 in passing yards per completion (17.20), No. 4 in points responsible for (210), points responsible for per game (21.0) and passing efficiency (181.4) and No. 5 in passing TDs (26).
Salter has thrown for 2,184 yards and rushed for another 705 yards. He ranks fifth in the country among quarterbacks with nine rushing yards.
